AMELIE

The colors in Amelie are all warmer colors. They tend to all be very rich in color and very distinct. As well, the colors always seem to be warm. There is rarely a blue to be seen. The dominant colors in the movie are red and green which feeds off the the theme of love.

The lighting in the movie tends to be very dim symbolizing her journey, but as seen here there is more light shining through. This represents Amelie finally embracing love and having high hopes for the future. She seems happy and this is reflected in how there is a lot of lighter yellows across the scene.
WIZARD OF OZ

The scale in this movie represents power. The munchkins are noticeably smaller then the rest of the characters. This puts them in an inferior position especially in comparison to the witch. If the munchkins were on the same level as the rest of the characters, there wouldn't be as much as an emphasis on the corrupt and evil nature of the world they live in and how Dorothy would be seen as a power figure.

The yellow brick road is a metaphor for new beginnings. It takes all the characters on a journey that leads to self discovery. The yellow represents happiness which was along with them the whole way, even without them realizing it. In people's everyday lives now, it can be seen the same way as people are searching for things about themselves that they have always had.
