For these sets of artwork I studied different elements of design to see what elements each work held. All these works are found at Arnold Hall.

This painting is the oil painting Untitled by Gregory Eltringham (2007). This painting both exhibits color harmony and a focal point. The colors are complimentary towards each other and create a beautiful flow of color within the piece. The focal point is the boy and it truly brings your eye in directly to him as there is a subtle background.

This painting is oil painting Untitled by Gregory Eltringham (2007). This painting is exhibiting the use of cast shadow (circled in red) and scale. A cast shadow is a shadow to represent depth in a painting which is very effective in this piece. The scale as well is effective as this painting is close to human scale.

This work is an embroidery piece by Jennifer Jenkins entitled Solution #4 (2005). It exhibits the use of texture and visual weight. It's visible to see the texture coming through the fabric which creates a more interesting piece compared to if this piece was creating through paper. As well, the comparison of dark and light makes the lines sprinkled throughout the piece stand out more. The line weight can be seen in each individual line as the lines get thinner to heavier.

This piece is the acrylic painting Untitled by Angela Burson (2009). It exhibits the use of saturation and value. The colors are vibrant and are large in scale. There is great value to each of the colors and they all are unique and bright which make the piece stand out.
